ABOUT GRADING RESTORATION PERMITS
- The Department of Building and Safety Environmental Compliance Division with Code Enforcement and the Environmental Programs Division (EPD) works on restoring the natural environment in Riverside County impacted by grading activities conducted without a grading permit.
- Typical grading violations occur when private property owners or developers cut, fill or excavate earth, alter the natural land forms, clear native vegetation, and/or impact existing drainage conditions without a proper permit.
- When a Stop-work action has been issued on the project by Code Enforcement, a Restoration Assessment is required for the Department of Building and Safety and the Environmental Programs Division (EPD) to assess the property and determine the restoration requirements for the property. Additional permits, agency clearances and mitigation measures may also be required to bring the site into compliance.
